Hello there Emoji everybody!  Hope you’re DRY!  Emoji  This weekend isn’t looking spectacular for the pool – but you never know, we live in Maryland – anything can happen!   Mass will happen Sunday morning at 9:00 am at the Grotto,  with breakfast Emojiafterwards.  It is also opening day for the Softball League – the first game starts at 11:00 am.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Aquaknight Swim Team last night at Chipotle!  It was a great turnout and we are very thankful for all the kindness and patronage, we really appreciate it!  GO AQUAKNIGHTS!
Here is the link for swimming pool membership:  https://kofc2809.org/pool/
The snack bar will be open this weekend, Sunday and Monday, depending on the weather.
Attached you will find information for the Pool Magnet fundraiser, Summer Camp registration and Summer Shuffleboard League.
Interested in Summer Shuffleboard?  There is a quick meeting tonight at 7:00 at the Clubhouse to see how many teams we have and to discuss substitutes and any rule changes.  Are you interested?  Please send Mary Fran a text at 301-335-3106, thanks!
The league will be 9 weeks, starting Thursday, June 4th.  The cost is $40.  At the end of the league we will have a steamed crab picnic for all the players!  YUM!
The Friday night dinner special is homemade lasagna with Emojisalad, bread and Emojidessert.  $15.00  Please pre-order here:  https://tinyurl.com/4ph9m98z
The pool and grounds are looking FAB!  Emoji  Just a little help needed in trimming the bushes on the side of the Clubhouse and the side of the lower pavilion, and if anyone has a power washer, the front “patio” of the Clubhouse needs a good spray please.
HUGE thanks to Katrina Bieler for fixing all the pool chair straps, to Tim and Susan Keifline for their hours and hours of hard work preparing the pool for the summer season, to Clyde Wilson for his expertise with the slide, white wash and coping stone, Doug Amann and Rich Little getting the snack bar ready for the kids (and adults) and Laura Hehman for agreeing to be the pool membership chairperson.  THANK Emoji YOU ALL!  It’s going to be a fun Emoji summer and it couldn’t happen without you and the rest of the volunteers who help day in and day out.
Speaking of volunteers – how about giving an evening or two a month to help in the Clubhouse?  We’re currently looking for bartenders and short order cooks (and you can be both Emoji ).  Please text Mary Fran at 301-335-3106 if you can help out, it’s really needed and much appreciated.
I don’t think much camping is gonna happen this Emojiweekend, but Saturday night the Clubhouse is having DOUBLE BarEmojiEmoji Bingo!  Yep, that’s right – 10 games!  It’s really fun, bring your friends!  Kitchen opens at 6:00 pm, game starts at 7:30 pm.  Queen Emojiof EmojiHearts is pulled at “half time.”   Give it a try!
Bill Judd will be “spinning” tunes EmojiSunday and Monday!  It may be a bit chilly Emoji for the pool, but not for cards, cornhole, Emojigrillin’  and a good ol’ egg Emoji toss!  Hope to see Emoji you this weekend in the grove!  Kids games will be on Monday.
Tuesday, June 2nd is LIVE TRIVIA – starts at 7:00 pm.
Tuesday, June 9th  is TACO TUESDAY!
The Bread Emoji for Our Brothers ministry that the Council has sponsored for more than 25 years needs additional drivers for the program to continue.  Work involves picking up boxes of donated bread from Bakery DeFrance in Rockville and delivering them to 2 or 3 specific charities in the District or Suburban Maryland.  Time commitment is 3 hours once or twice per month on either a Tuesday or Wednesday.  This Ministry is not restricted to K of C members only, and any family member or friends who might be willing to participate are welcome.  For information, call Brother Dennis O’Malley at 301-328-7500.
We are sad to learn that PGK Hugh O’Donnell passed away on May 4th.  Hugh’s life was marked by unwavering commitment to family, faith and service.  Here is his obituary:  https://www.borgwardtfuneralhome.com/obituaries/hugh-odonnell-iii
Don’t forget to keep in your prayers Emoji the military who have died while protecting us, especially this weekend.
Please take care and be safe, see you soon!
