Hello there everybody! I hope the week is going well for you!
The Ladies Auxiliary will be donating “Boxes of Joy” to children in third world countries. This program is run by Cross Catholic Outreach. These boxes will be filled with $10-$15 worth of gifts (can be purchased from the Dollar Store) for a child in a third world country. Items to include could be: small toys/stuffed animal/games/hard candy or gum (No Chocolate or Jolly Ranchers), school supplies like pencils/crayons/stickers/notebooks, apparel like socks/underwear/hats/flip flops, accessories like sunglasses/jewelry/hair accessories/cross or rosary and useful items such as sewing kit/led flashlight or drawstring bag. In order to ship these boxes, we also ask for $10 to cover the cost. This whole box will be about $20-$30 in total, including the $10 shipping cost. Three ways to give: Fill your own box with items (list below); Monetary donation to cover cost of shipping for boxes; individual items from the list. There will be a box in the clubhouse to accept donations. All donations are due by Sunday, October 15th.Please contact Janet Alessandrini, jalessan@umd.edu, 301.332.0385 with any questions. Big thanks to everyone who participated in the POINT 1K last week! Super fun time, great run (hahaha) AND we raised $1400 for the Maryland Special Olympics! Let’s try to double that next year! Start training now…….lol October 28th the “Hit it Weird” local girls softball team is sponsoring a Halloween Cornhole Tournament in the grove. Please see the attached flyer for this fun event! Last Sunday’s brunch was DELISH!! So much good food!! And then the Mimosa and Bloody Mary Bar – YUM!! And I gotta say, the Commanders game was so exciting, a lot better than I expected! Wonderful Day! Thank you to Matt O’Hare and Joe Scafone for their hard work in making sure this Brunch was fantastic! THANK YOU! The next one will be November 5th. Bar Bingo – Saturday the 7th. The Clubhouse will be open at 1:00 pm Sunday October 8th even though the Commanders have a bye. Taco Tuesday – October 10th. I can’t think of much else, hope to see you soon! We’ve had some beautiful nights to enjoy an after dinner drink on the deck – come on up!
