I will leave you with a message from Grand Knight John Foley: About 20 years ago, I was visitingGlasgow, Scotland during a port visit, and was taking in the Glasgow WarMemorial, which is primarily dedicatedto citizens from Glasgow whoparticipated in World War 1. There wasa particular inscription on this memorialthat caught my eye, and it reads: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life forone’s friends.” This quote touched me, and I often think about it. Turns out, this is actually a quote from the Gospel of John, Chapter15, where Jesus is instructing his followers. Although Jesusis telling others to live by this command, it is a primeexample of how Jesus himself lived his life. He gave up hisown life so that the rest of us can be forgiven of sin. He putthe needs of others before his own…As Knights, we should strive for the same, putting the needsof others before our own. Saint Michael McGivney had thismindset when he started our order, determined that theneeds of the widow and the orphan are of the upmostimportance. I remember during COVID, this mindset wason prime time display at our council. Members werechecking up on each other, checking on the sick andelderly, and were, in general, more concerned for othersrather than themselves. The fact that our members andtheir families think this way is a reason why I am memberof this council.Changing gears, summer is very quickly wrapping up, but westill have a few good weeks left. Get out there and enjoy it,and I hope to see you at the council! Vivat Jesus,SK John Foley Have a great week and weekend, hope to see you!
