Hello there everybody!  I hope it’s been a good week! Lots and lots going on, so grab that cup of tea, shut the office door and get your calendar ready!   It’s the last week of shuffleboard, the Championship will be Thursday evening, with a Thursday team playing against another Thursday team!  Doug and Nanny beat out Tuesday nights Maggie and Keristen, and Joan and Kathleen got Bill and Jan in 3 games last night, to go on to the Championship!   Good luck!!   Friday is Cinco de Mayo and we’re celebrating at the Clubhouse!   The Friday night dinner special is Birria Taco’s with a surprise dessert – all for $20!  The Birria Tacos are made with Birria de Res, beef braised in a bold, aromatic chili sauce until fall apart tender, stuffed into broth-battered corn tortillas along with ooey gooey Oaxaca cheese, pan-fried until crispy then dunked in the deeply crimson Birria broth.  YUM!   Please pre-order here if you can:https://tinyurl.com/2p9ez265  
Saturday is the Kentucky Derby – Run for the Roses, and we’ll be celebrating the Derby at the Clubhouse with specialty drinks; Oaks Ivy, Kentucky Mule and Mint Julep along with awarding a prize for the best hat, and some fun side bets!   Clubhouse will open at 4:00 pm and don’t forget Bar Bingo starts at 7:30!   It’s time to think about the kiddo’s and summer camp, and there is a fantastic camp at the Knights of Columbus!  Registration form is attached.  There is a new Summer Camp Manager,  Susan Mathis, welcome Susan!  Here is a small bio: Born a fifth generation Floridian, I graduated from the University of Florida with a Master’sDegree in Public History. After working at the Florida Museum of Natural History for more thanten years, that last five as Director of Children’s Programming, I left professional work to stayhome with my three children. Our family moved to Maryland in 1999 when my husband, James,was hired by the National Archives in College Park. While homeschooling my children, and laterhelping to teach my four grandchildren, I have had the opportunity to help establish severaleducational programs in Prince George’s County. During the Covid lockdown, I also worked inthe growing online educational market but found that I missed personal interaction withstudents. I also started co-authoring a series of novels, The Father Tom Mysteries, with myhusband.James and I are active members of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church and I am also active in theHyattsville Catholic Women and the Schola Familia Catholic Homeschool Cooperative. Sunday will be another day to volunteer for Pool / Grounds clean-up!  Fun starts at 10:00 am, but please feel free to stop by anytime between 10 and 4.  Maybe bring some garden gloves and a rake.  If you have any ideas for the Grove, etc.  please share!   The Aquaknight Swim Team is getting ready for another fun in the sun filled season and is looking for a Coach.  Do you know someone who may be interested, maybe you have a question or two?  Please call Colleen at 240-286-2573 or email Aquaknightspgcouncil@gmail.com.  Please spread the word!   The Ladies of the Knights is sponsoring a Family Movie Night on June 10th, please see the attached flyer.   There is a flyer for the Shrimp and Bull Roast June 3rd.   The men’s softball league starts Monday, Memorial Day.  Players needed, and what’s really needed is another team so there won’t be a bye.  It would be a huge help if you could share this  and maybe start recruiting!  Do you want more information?  Call Jim Lintner at 301-646-2344, he’s happy to help!   Taco Tuesday – Tuesday the 9th.   That’s it for now!  Have a great week!
